What is photo manipulation?

 

While almost every image is manipulated to some extent (cropping, adjusting colors, highlights, ect...), the art of photo manipulation goes a step beyond. It is a compilation of several images brought together in a effort to create something new, and in my case, is often reminiscent of the surrealist paintings created by artists like Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso and René Magritte.

Why Include Photo Manipulation?

​

I included photo manipulation in my portfolio because they require a wide variety of Photoshop skills and techniques. Each image is created of multiple layers in a non destructive manner, using masking techniques to preserve the originals photos. Additionally it showcases the use of gradients, shadows, lighting, opacity, and the use of tools like the pen and selection tools.
