ARTIST STATEMENT

WITH MY CAMERA
in hand, as the first ray of light breaks the horizon, gently pressing on the shutter release and capturing that fleeting moment in time, that is my eutopia. As a photographer, I‘ve spent years learning about light, composition, and subject matter, in the pursuit of images that will move and motivate people. During that period, I discovered the use of Adobe software for adjusting images to enhance their appearance and developed an interest in graphic design. I soon realized that by combining the two visual arts I would be able to reach a wider array of people through multiple mediums.
Enrolling at Wiregrass, Georgia Technical College, I have enhanced my technical skills in the use of Adobe Suite, and gained a greater understanding of design. The ability to convey political, commercial and recreation messages using imagery, typography and design elements. Creating compositions that invite a second look at the message being communicated.
Since graduating college, I am in the process of moving to North Carolina in pursuit of a job where I can put my talents to use. My ideal job would be one where it would allow me to combine the three elements (photograph, graphic and web design) to use.
